Creative Director, Documentary Filmmaker & Video Coach
Anja Strelec is a Brussels-based creative director, documentary filmmaker, videographer, photographer, and coach. She creates documentaries, corporate films, and creative video content for EU institutions, international organizations, NGOs, embassies, broadcasters, and businesses, guiding projects from concept to final delivery.
About me
For the past fifteen years, I have worked as an independent Creative Director, Documentary Filmmaker, Videographer, Photographer, Editor, and Coach. I have directed and co-directed several award-winning documentaries and produced numerous corporate, promotional, and creative video projects.
Based in Brussels, I collaborate with film production companies, EU institutions, international organizations, NGOs, embassies, broadcasters, and businesses, helping bring stories to life from concept development to final delivery. Alongside my production work, I provide coaching and consulting in filmmaking, visual storytelling, and video production for agencies, institutions, and international organizations.
Education
I graduated in TV journalism and public relations from the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb. I hold a master's degree in audiovisual and film production from Paul Valery III University in Montpellier and a master's degree in audiovisual and film directing from ESAV (Ecole supérieure d’audiovisuel) in Toulouse.

Experience
I have worked with international clients across Europe, the United States, Africa, and Asia, delivering projects in countries including Senegal, Ghana, Eritrea, Guinea, Bangladesh, Nepal, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Argentina.
My work focuses on documentary storytelling, social impact, environmental and development issues, audiovisual portraits, and institutional communications.
Beyond production, I have served as a film festival selector, jury member, guest lecturer, and workshop leader, sharing expertise at universities, international conferences, film festivals, and professional training programs.

Native Croatian, I fluently speak English, French and Spanish and have a good understanding of Dutch.
Projects
Over the years, I have built a trusted network of filmmakers, photographers, editors, communication specialists, and technical experts. Together, we create documentaries, corporate films, and visual storytelling projects for organizations including UNICEF, the United Nations, the European Commission, the European Parliament, international NGOs, and broadcasters across Europe.
Creative work
For over 15 years, I have been telling stories through film and photography. My award-winning documentaries have been screened at international festivals, museums, and broadcasters worldwide, while my photographic work has been exhibited across Europe.
My latest documentary, Where Have All the Smiles Gone, screened at more than 30 international festivals and received six awards. I am currently directing #Click Revolution, a documentary exploring the intersection of Gen Z, social media, and politics.
Equipment
We work with professional cinema and production equipment to deliver high-quality visuals, sound, and post-production. Our toolkit includes the latest Sony Alpha cameras and G Master lenses, professional audio systems from RØDE and Sennheiser, DJI drones and gimbals, advanced lighting solutions, and a powerful post-production workflow built around Adobe Creative Cloud and Mac Studio workstations for editing, sound design, and color grading.
